J’s Mom took us out for tea in Mars, PA at the Johnston House. I’ve always wanted to go for tea and it was so much fun! I wish we could do it all the time. The front of the house has a beautifully manicured lawn and pretty flowers and shrubs everywhere you look.
There’s a pretty little gazebo where you could take pictures and just relax.
We got there early for our tea time so we walked around the gift shop area for a bit.
I spied this purple China set and thought it was beautiful. I had never seen a purple pattern before so it was a real treat to come across something as pretty as this.
When it’s time for tea, a little bell is rung and we all meet in the main dining area.
Additional rooms have been added to the original house.
You can have a private party in this huge open airy section. An intimate wedding would be so pretty in this area. In fact, the Johnston House was recently featured on the front page of a bridal magazine. I wish I remembered which one they said.
I wish I could have taken my sister here. I think she would love it.
Back to tea time, each table is set specifically for each party. If you had 3 guests you would be seated at a table with 3 settings.
The table across from us had a pansy pattern that I thought was darling. Pansies and peonies are my favorites.
Along with tea, you were served finger foods and desserts. There were mini quiches, scones, finger sandwiches, muffins, croissants, walnut bread, and chocolate dipped strawberries. They looked absolutely delightful.
One of the great things about the Johnston House was that they accommodated my gluten free diet and served substitutions. I got a salad of grilled chicken, almonds, with field greens and for dessert, a fruit plate.
This bowl was the centerpiece on the fireplace and J’s Mom absolutely adores it. I can see why. I love all the colors and the details on the bowl. It’s delicate, yet bold enough to be a centerpiece. I wish we could find out where to get something like this.
I enjoyed the tea room so much that I’ve been researching for similar places in Texas. I’d love to throw my sister a bridal shower at a tea room. If anyone knows of a place, please please let me know!
Anytime we’re in PA I plan on taking J’s Mom to the Johnston House. I had a wonderful time and enjoyed looking at all the knick knacks in the gift shop, tasting different teas, and enjoying each other’s company. I can’t wait to go back!
