Spear Fishing and Sea Eggs in Grenada

While J and I were on a leisurely stroll we spotted these two young fellows with their catch. These guys went spear fishing and caught some pretty neat looking fish. I believe these are puffer fish. (more…)

For the past few weeks, J and I have come across entirely new fruits for us. Star Apples are pictured above. (more…)

The 2nd Annual Grenada Strongest Man Competition was held this past weekend. It was held at the field across from Spiceland Mall so we took a walk over to check the scene out.
*Note: If the flyer has the event starting at 9am, you should probably give them about an hour or two. We were there at 10am and half the things weren’t even set up yet.
There is a yoga studio close to where we are staying and we decided we should give it a try. Fountain of Youth Yoga is just a walk down the hill and so easy to get to. (more…)

Yesterday’s breakfast was full of greens. The star of breakfast yesterday was watermelon! I finally took the plunge and bought it at the market. (more…)

I can already see your face…all scrunched up and your nose wrinkling together. “Wwhhat’s that…” you ask? Papaya sorbet my friends, papaya sorbet. (more…)

I’ve seen foreign candy bars in Grenada that I haven’t seen before and thought I’d share my finds. I have no idea what this bar has in it, but it sounds tasty to me. I’m thinking nuts and chocolate. (more…)

I’ve been feeling under the weather for the past 5-6 days and poor J has been cooped up inside taking care of me. Being in the kitchen gets me so warm that I’m uncomfortable, so we’re going out more often.
We decided to try out this breakfast place called Gibson’s. The owner is a nice guy from Barbados. We were able to chat with him for a few minutes before breakfast was served.
They serve an all American breakfast with the usual waffles, pancakes, and eggs.

I made a small lunch before we went for a swim. A green salad topped with soft boiled eggs, fried plantains, and raisins.

There’s a neighborhood restaurant bar, Umbrellas on the public beach, that we’ve passed by a couple of times and we were always curious about it. We decided to try it out and were pleasantly surprised.

This spot is super clean. Spotless. I was very impressed. I would definitely come back here again. The food was reasonable and tasty, the staff was friendly, and the place was spic and span.
We sat on the rooftop deck, but there is seating inside, and in the front as well.

This is the view from our table.

For dinner, I had the ribs plate with french fries and J had a burger with sweet potato fries. I’m not usually a fan of sweet potato fries, but these were definitely better than the regular fries. As J and I were eating our meals, J asked why we ordered ribs and burgers on the beach? Good question. We should have ordered fish or seafood, but it was too late. Next time.

We spent part of the afternoon walking along the beach and enjoying the view. The waters were calm, peaceful, and clear as glass. (more…)
