Rain rain go away…it was raining on and off all day yesterday. We should have stayed in, but needed groceries so we made the trip out to St. George’s to see our favorite shop keeper Theresa and picked up a lot more produce. I took a few pictures of random things that I saw which were interesting to me.

Check out this tall papaya tree. It’s probably 40′ high and the papayas are large and ripe up at the very top. How would they ever reach up there and pick fruit? What’s worse? Having one of those fall on your head!
Once we got into town I saw military men standing on the streets. They weren’t doing anything in particular, just carrying large guns, and checking out the scenery.

I also snapped a picture of this scene. This van was just parked in the middle of the intersection, and he didn’t care whether there was traffic behind him or not. He had questions that needed to be answered and everyone else can either wait or go around him. I like the shot, the police officer in uniform, and the worn out buildings on the streets makes me think of something old school, like a time back in the day.

After we picked up our groceries, the bus dropped us off at the mall to begin our 10 minute walk uphill to the hotel. As we were walking by the ditch we saw crabs everywhere. I guess when it rains the crabs come out of their shelter because the water must flood up their holes. Here’s a bunch of them sitting out. They’re the bright spurts of orange you see scattered around the sand and dirt.

I made veggie rice noodles for dinner and fresh grated nutmeg in cocoa to wash it all down. The noodles came out a tad dry and bland. I think it would have been better with a sauce, so back to the drawing board with that meal.

Fresh grated nutmeg is a fantastic aroma. Also, here’s a tip, you must break the shell before you get to the nut. I made the mistake of trying to grate the shell.
I have an excuse though, the only nutmeg I’ve ever encountered are the kinds that are pre-ground in little jars at the grocery store. How was I supposed to know that it wasn’t already shelled? Good thing I have J’s strongman arms because I wasn’t ever going to be able to break the shell open without smashing the whole entire nut to pieces.
We saw a rainbow towards the end of dinner. I thought it was the prettiest thing. J doesn’t care much for rainbows.

J took a video of the bus ride we took to St. George’s to share with all. Check it:
