Waterville has a plethora of floral and fauna. They have orchards of fruit trees adorning the grounds, flowers every place you look, and green lush plants in all directions. It’s pretty awesome. Driving through Trinidad you would never think that Waterville Estate is on the same island. J and I spent some time at Waterville at the end of last year and we absolutely fell in love with the place. The pictures can’t even begin to capture the beauty.

The entrance to Waterville is secluded – almost like a secret garden, you’ll have to look hard to find it. Signs are not posted outside unless they know they’ll have visitors; then a temporary sign is posted upon a stake. Your best bet is to call them ahead of time to let them know you’re coming.

We got dropped off at TrinCity Mall right at KFC, go up the escalator, and this is what we see. It was packed! It was quite a shock because we weren’t expecting this much development.

Holiday Inn Express – Port of Spain, Trinidad

We decided to stay at Holiday Inn Express because we really enjoyed our time there in Houston, plus it was close to the airport and there was a free shuttle from/to the airport and from/to TrinCity Mall. Continental breakfast is served daily and internet is free. Internet access is a make or break deal for us.  (more…)

Port of Spain, Trinidad Layover

J and I took a quick trip to the Bahamas last week with overnight connections in Trinidad. The night before we leave, J finds out that Liat pilots have been on strike for the past two days. We were worried because we spent all that money on flights and lodging, but in the end, Liat decided they would start flying again. Phew! (more…)
